Hi as a learning disability nurse working in CAMHS I am constantly fighting to increase awareness and to offer training to allied health professionals, education, social care, police etc. I have offered to speak at university’s but getting through the doors is hard. I am part of groups encouraging young people to speak about their autism and learning disabilities.i wrote a book with 3 young women about their autism and experiences of services and it is now in universities reading lists in this country and he US. I have been an LD nurse for 33 years but we are rarely listened to or respected. Most of the hospitals both in physical and mental health do not employ LD nurses and…
